But that's not all - upgrade to unlock all the incredible features and explore every corner of the Milky Way, meticulously mapped by NASA, JPL, ESA, and other international space programs.

Embark on a journey to thousands of exoplanets with Cosmic Atlas's first-person view feature. Marvel at the stunning 3D models that showcase intricate atmospheres and surfaces based on science-driven artist renderings. Explore potentially habitable Earth-like planets in the Habitable Zone that can support liquid water. Observe hot terrestrial planets closer to their stars, featuring landscapes ranging from windswept sands to volcanic infernos or oppressive Venus-like atmospheres. Delve into cold terrestrial planets situated beyond the habitable zone, covered with rocks, frozen deserts, or sheets of ice. Get lost in the beauty of Jovian gas giants with their colorful cloud layers, representing different elements visible in the upper atmosphere at different temperatures. And don't forget to admire the breathtaking Neptunian ice giants with their smooth outer clouds or enveloped strings of cool clouds.

In addition to these astonishing exoplanets, Cosmic Atlas also offers high-resolution representations of planets, moons, and dwarf planets within our own Solar System. These stunning visuals are created using enhanced images from NASA missions, adding an extra layer of realism to your cosmic exploration.

Immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring vastness of the Milky Way within Cosmic Atlas. Covering over 180 trillion square light years, this massive open cosmic environment is meticulously created to provide an accurate representation of the true scale of our galaxy. With over 116,000 uniquely colored stars that match their true color temperatures in blue, yellow, or red spectrums, you can truly experience what the night sky looks like from distant worlds. Explore 3,710 unique planetary systems that have confirmed exoplanets and witness scientifically accurate star positions and luminosity. Discover data-rich information panels that provide insights into planet attributes, parent systems, discovery methods, and research programs credited with their findings. And for your convenience, flag stars and planets that you find particularly fascinating to easily revisit them later.

Cosmic Atlas offers six distinct exploration modes to cater to your preferences. The new Telescope mode allows you to point your phone at the sky and easily identify planets, stars, and even distant planetary systems. Engage in a first-person flight experience with Pilot mode, complete with flight controls and an autopilot feature that can lock trajectory towards your selected destination. Use Orbit mode to navigate systems effortlessly, rotating or zooming in to examine planets up close. Find nearby systems and planets or revisit saved planets with Navigator mode. Browse the complete catalog and discover new exoplanets, planetary systems, and stars with Database mode. And if you're looking for something specific, utilize the Search mode to find particular stars and exoplanets or nearby planets, moons, and dwarf planets within our solar system.

Take control of your Cosmic Atlas experience with customizable settings. By default, HDR Lighting is active, providing realistic relative brightness for stars and planets. To maintain consistent lighting throughout your exploration journey, you can toggle HDR off, ensuring stars and the Milky Way remain visible in the background. Enable Systems Only mode to hide labels for stars without exoplanets in Pilot, Navigator, and Telescope modes. Alternatively, activate Objects with Info Only mode to hide labels for stars without detailed data available.

Data Sources

Cosmic Atlas utilizes the latest exoplanet data from esteemed programs such as NASA and the European Space Agency. This ensures that the app provides a true-to-scale 3D environment for exploration, allowing users to freely navigate a small section of the Milky Way galaxy while examining thousands of newly discovered stars and exoplanets.

The latest planetary system data is gathered from various public research programs, including the University of Puerto Rico's Planetary Habitability Laboratory and the NASA Exoplanet Archive, which operates under contract with NASA under the Exoplanet Exploration Program and is managed by the California Institute of Technology.
