Cosmic Atlas offers six distinct exploration modes to cater to your preferences. The new Telescope mode allows you to point your phone at the sky and easily identify planets, stars, and even distant planetary systems. Engage in a first-person flight experience with Pilot mode, complete with flight controls and an autopilot feature that can lock trajectory towards your selected destination. Use Orbit mode to navigate systems effortlessly, rotating or zooming in to examine planets up close. Find nearby systems and planets or revisit saved planets with Navigator mode. Browse the complete catalog and discover new exoplanets, planetary systems, and stars with Database mode. And if you're looking for something specific, utilize the Search mode to find particular stars and exoplanets or nearby planets, moons, and dwarf planets within our solar system.

Take control of your Cosmic Atlas experience with customizable settings. By default, HDR Lighting is active, providing realistic relative brightness for stars and planets. To maintain consistent lighting throughout your exploration journey, you can toggle HDR off, ensuring stars and the Milky Way remain visible in the background. Enable Systems Only mode to hide labels for stars without exoplanets in Pilot, Navigator, and Telescope modes. Alternatively, activate Objects with Info Only mode to hide labels for stars without detailed data available.

Cosmic Atlas utilizes the latest exoplanet data from esteemed programs such as NASA and the European Space Agency. This ensures that the app provides a true-to-scale 3D environment for exploration, allowing users to freely navigate a small section of the Milky Way galaxy while examining thousands of newly discovered stars and exoplanets.

The latest planetary system data is gathered from various public research programs, including the University of Puerto Rico's Planetary Habitability Laboratory and the NASA Exoplanet Archive, which operates under contract with NASA under the Exoplanet Exploration Program and is managed by the California Institute of Technology.
